I think Winter weddings are becoming some of my favorites... maybe because they're less popular, maybe because there's usually no big rain backup plan (almost everything's already inside), or maybe because I like fur stoles and icy accents? In any case, Ashley and Davis's wedding did NOT disappoint. It had all of these fun elements and more.
It was so much for working with Ashley to coordinate the wedding. She wanted to embrace the Winter theme and had a formal, Uptown affair complete with a fabulous band. And fabulous is only one way to describe the night. The couple was married in a beautiful ceremony at Covenant Presbyterian Church, and then guests headed into the heart of the city to enjoy a cocktail hour and reception 31 floors up at the Charlotte City Club. The room was decorated with beautiful florals by Flowers from the Cellar. I loved the blue tones, winter cabbage and berries in the arrangements, the bare winter tree branch centerpieces, the candle light that flickered throughout the room, and the Queen City themed accents that appeared throughout the evening.
Guests mingled, ate, drank, and enjoyed a station style dinner before the band kicked in with some AMAZING dance music. And this crowd was down for some singing and dancing. The dance floor was packed for the rest of the evening and the several times I checked in with the band, guests were grabbing a mic (including the bride and groom) and singing right along.
As with most wedding nights, the end came fast. My favorite line of the day came from the groom as the couple was about to exit. He said to Ashley, "I would have done this two years ago if I knew our wedding was going to be this much fun!" The couple ran through guests throwing "snow" on them as they exited the building and headed straight for the after party. I wasn't there for the rest of the evening, but if the reception was any indication, I'm sure the party didn't slow down in the least.
Ashley and Davis, I hope you had a wonderful winter honeymoon exploring Norway, and that your wedding day was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fun memories in your life together.
All the best,
Libby
